In Lisa Austin's "On The Mob: The Cuppacio Twins," the Cuppacio family, having escaped their violent Chicago past, faces a new challenge: securing their alliance with the Rinaldi Mafia through strategic marriages. While brother Ezio has already fulfilled this obligation, twins Metavello and Renello refuse to play along. Metavello, a playboy convinced money can buy anything, encounters an intriguing independent woman who doesn't fit the Rinaldi mold. Meanwhile, Renello, haunted by the reappearance of his believed-dead cousin Pia, prioritizes reconnecting with her over fulfilling his family duty. Their defiance threatens the fragile peace between the two powerful families, setting the stage for a clash of wills and unexpected consequences.

Review On The Mob
Oh my goodness, "On the Mob: The Cuppacio Twins" was a whirlwind! I absolutely devoured this book, and honestly, I’m still reeling from that cliffhanger. Lisa Austin has done it again; she's a master of creating these captivating, rollercoaster-like stories that keep you hooked from beginning to end. This installment, while focusing on the twins Metavello and Renello, perfectly complements the previous books in the series, weaving in familiar faces and adding exciting new layers to the already complex world of the Cuppacio and Rinaldi families.
I loved the shift in tone compared to previous books. While the signature drama and spice are definitely still present – and oh boy, is there drama! – this book had a lighter, more comedic feel. The witty banter between the characters had me chuckling throughout, and the humor perfectly balanced the intense moments, preventing the story from feeling too heavy. The author’s ability to blend humor and high stakes is truly impressive.
Metavello’s arrogant charm and unwavering belief in his own matchmaking abilities were both hilarious and infuriating at times. His interactions with the unexpectedly independent woman he encounters had me on the edge of my seat, wondering how his carefully laid plans would crumble (and crumble they did!). Renello’s journey was equally compelling, although far more emotionally charged. His unwavering devotion to his long-lost cousin, Pia, and his struggle to reconcile the past with the present created a heartwarming yet heartbreaking storyline that tugged at my emotions.
The plot itself is masterfully crafted. Austin expertly reveals clues and hints throughout the book, keeping readers guessing and subtly foreshadowing the major twists and turns. I admit, I picked up on some of the "gotchas," but that didn't diminish my enjoyment one bit; rather, it fueled my anticipation as the pieces fell into place. The interconnectedness of the storylines, both within this book and across the entire series, is genuinely impressive. It's clear there’s a great deal of thought and planning behind this world, and it’s incredibly rewarding to witness it unfold.
And that ending… Don't even get me started! The revelation regarding Pia’s father left me completely speechless. It’s the kind of shocking twist that forces you to immediately reread certain passages, searching for clues you might have missed. The cliffhanger is masterful, leaving the reader desperate for answers and impatiently waiting for the next book. Seriously, I’m already counting down the days until I can dive back into this world. Lisa Austin, you've set the bar incredibly high; I can’t wait to see what you do next!
